Warriors 6 Dragons 3

Submitted by on 04/10/2017 – 6:30 pm

The Dragons made the long journey to Whitley Bay and the foggy Hillheads Road rink.  The Dragons were missing Captain Snipper Parsons and shortly before faceoff #29 Armstrong was taken ill so that mean #12 Wigglesworth took the Captains ‘C’ and #30 Ollie Johnson made his first senior start.

The visitors bad luck continued with the Warriors scoring from the opening faceoff, but the response was instant with Coach #77 McKenzie levelling the scores after only 42 seconds.  Despite this response the Dragons looked muddled in the mist and ended the period 3-1 down.  McKenzie was furious and his mood didn’t improve as the home team extended their lead by 4 within 25 minutes.

Finally the response came.  Inspired by a series of outstanding saves from #30 Johnson, including a ridiculous glove save that was pure larceny.  #55 Kennedy and #77 McKenzie again, got the Dragons believing and the visitors finished the period the stronger.

The Dragons gave it a their all in the third and in the end The Warriors knew they had been in a great game of Hockey and were relieved to hear the final buzzer.
