Dragons 5 Hawks 3

Submitted by on 09/01/2017 – 8:18 pm

The Dragons took on the Blackburn Hawks on Sunday night at the Den  for the second time is as many days.
Saturday night saw the Hawks winning by the odd goal in a real end to end thriller at Blackburn arena where the final score was 7-6 to the Hawks so there was everything to play on home ice

The Dragons got off to a flying start taking a two goal lead with strikes from Jordan Bannon and Cain Taylor giving the home team the advantage in the first period.

The second period was much the same with the Hawks looking unorganised and taking too many when Filip Supa increased the lead to three with a bullet shot to the top corner.

At the start of the third period the seemed to be a discrepancy with the team sheet and the Hawks import Josef Istocy was not listed on the game sheet so could not continue with the game but this seemed to spur the Hawk on ant they scored three unanswered goals to level the game at 3-3 with seven minutes left in the game at which point Scot Mckenzie called a time out to try and settle the Dragons which seem to do the trick when James Parsons put the home team back in front a minute later to set up a frantic finish. The Hawks piled on the pressure on Jonah Armstrong in the Dragons net but could not come up with the equaliser. With only a minute left in the game the Dragons put the game to bed when Parson scrambled the puck over the line for his second of the night and claim the two points for the home team.

Final score Dragons 5 Hawks 4
