Chappell And Austin Back For Another Season At The Den

Submitted by on 26/05/2017 – 5:57 pm

The Dragons are pleased to announce that Andy Chappell and Gav Austin have agreed to another season playing for the Dragons and will be wearing their usual shirts numbers of #10 and #92

Both players have come through the juniors ranks and are regular members of the senior squad

Head coach Scott McKenzie said “I am really pleased to get these two guys signed up, they are Dragons through and through, It is  going to be a hard season ahead with all the changes and I need players that want to play for the team and be a part of the Dragons setup and not just be here for a free ride till something better comes along”   “

The new league structure setup means the Dragons will have more games this season and face some tough opponents with ex premier teams joining the league.

Gav Austin a local lad to the area and a long serving Dragon had this to say about the new season “I’m looking forward to the games this league will bring. It’s always good try and better yourself against potentially tougher opponents . The new league setup will certainly be tough but it gives us a great opportunity to build on what we achieved last year, especially towards the end of the season where the team really came together when we needed to”

Andy Chappell another long standing member of the team was excited about the coming season “ I’m looking forward to see if we can build on a tough first year in the conference. I think the dragons will need to step up to the plate with new teams joining next year. It’s going to be a long season I can’t wait for September!
