An excellent first trials night for The Dragons saw over 30 players in attendance, including 5 netminders, all interested in securing a place with the team. Head Coach Gary Shaw was impressed with the numbers, there was  ‘a good tempo, with plenty of people there, a good selection with varied abilities’”  It’s been a while since the players were on the ice, so they need …

Bannon Back At The Den

Submitted by on 21/07/2017 – 5:00 pm

The Dragons are delighted to announce the return of Jordan Bannon for the 2017/18 NIHL1 Moralee Conference season. Bannon is no stranger to Deeside having played a number of seasons for the Dragons, this being his 4th stint in the familiar red and green colours. Player/Coach Scott McKenzie is over the moon to have re-signed a Player of Bannons pedigree; “Jordan is an asset to any club. He is easily a top six player on any team in this division. So to have him here in Deeside, we are very fortunate. He is a great teammate, has great speed and a hard shot. Jordan is also incredibly passionate about winning and this is a great thing for us to have within our locker room.” As many people know Jordan is a keen and excellent motorbike rider, so he will miss the start of the season due to his racing commitments, but Mckenzie doesn’t see that as an issue; “Its one of them where you have to just accept it and bring Jordan in when he is ready. He is fully committed to the Dragons so it is only fair that we respect his other commitments and allow Jordan to come to us a little later than normal.”
We spoke to Jordan earlier in the week  and he had this to say about his return to the Den
“The Dragons have a really strong aim in moving forward under Scott and I want to be a part of that…. so it was an easy decision for me to come back. I enjoyed my hockey last year, so I just want more of the same this year with a great bunch of mates and a great set of fans. The new league will be tougher than ever this year…. But I don’t read too much into it..  I think there may be a few break away teams at the top. As long as we can compete with them I think we’ll all be happy. I do believe we will surprise them teams. As for the teams that we played last season. There’s no reason why we can’t beat all of them. The league looks good!”

Bannon will wear the #11 jersey for the Dragons during their 17/18 campaign. If you would like to Own and Loan Jordan’s jersey, please contact us by Email at  info@dragonsicehockey.co.uk
